INTRODUCTION
The A300 was the first twin engined widebody airliner in the world. It was the very first product of the Airbus Industrie (Now Airbus Group) The A300 was the first commercial airliner to incorporate material composites into its construction. This allowed huge weight savings and promotes cost effectiveness and sustainability across all aircraft today. This aircraft type went on to become the first ETOPS compliant aircraft permitting extended range operations for two engined aircraft. Production of the aircraft ceased in 2007, still with many flying today, and the technological advances are present on every aircraft made since.
OUR AIRCRAFT
This aircraft was used as a training facility. It was one of several aircraft used when the aircraft entered service to train airline pilots on the type. The interior is a typical view of the technology available at the time, and gives visitors a view of the layout and the space within the flightdeck. The aircraft consists of the front section of this Airbus A300. The interior has been preserved in good condition having been restored by the A.P.C, and we hope to be able to look towards a placement with an institution soon.
WHAT'S NEXT
We currently also have the flight engineer's station for the aircraft, but is currently not fitted to the aircraft. Our intention is to fully refurbish this section, and reinstall it into the cockpit. This will require some precision work, but with your donations we can get the refurbishment fully completed. We also would like to bring some of the avionics to life with backlight illumination. Visitors find the experience far more immersive and impressive with small sections of the cockpit 'live'
This aircraft is nearing completion and is now available for display, and therefore applications are being taken from registered UK museums who may be interested in displaying the Airbus A300.
